Appointment – General Project Coordinator for Capital House Affairs

October 12, 2020 - Capital House, the executive branch of the Vema Seamount Territory, responsible for the administration of the floating City project for Mount Vema, headed by the Prime Minister of Mount Vema, seeks to appoint a Project Coordinator to coordinate the directives of the Vema Seamount Authority to project coordinators of all relevant royal and ministerial departments.
 
You do not need to be a Citizen of Mount Vema to apply for this vacancy, and you will be expected to work from home until further notice.
 
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be the ‘General Project Coordinator for Capital House Affairs’, and will be responsible for coordinating and assisting with the drafting of the rules with regards to the day-to-day management of the City of Mount Vema Project; the city of Mount Vema projects overseas, and foreign trade and commerce with foreign governments that would support the overall city project.
 
As a General Project Coordinator, you will need to follow a standard process, as defined by government protocol, and oversee other departments and check their progress with regards to:
 
  • feasibility and work out budgets, teams and resources
  • setting goals and objectives, defining roles and producing schedules and timelines for tasks - in accordance with general objectives, the rule of law and government policy.
  • selecting, lead and motivate project teams both internal and external
  • coordinating project teams to keep them on track and keeping the project on budget
  • carrying out monitoring and control activities in order to track the progress of projects
  • identifying and manage risks to ensure delivery is on time
  • implementing any necessary changes throughout the process
  • reporting regularly or as instructed to the Vema Seamount Authority
  • evaluating successes and challenges to enhance learning for other projects.
 
Salary and Benefits
The salary is $80,000 US dollras per year.  Paid monthly in arrears.
The benefits include paid medical coverage, paid vacation, sick days, holidays, and a pension plan. Benefits are only applicable after you complete three months on the job.
 
Working hours
You will work normal business hours (Mount Vema Time Zone = UTC+1) Monday to Friday however, you may be expected to work additional hours to meet deadlines without overtime compensation.
 
Work Conditions
As you will be working outside Mount Vema, you may be provided with a private Office at a later stage however, initially you will be expected to work from home. Travel is almost always involved in this role, and therefore the work environment may vary quite dramatically day to day.
 
Requirements
If your application is accepted, you will be required to open a bank account with a Mount Vema bank, if you do not already have a Mount Vema bank account.
 
What to expect
You will lead a project team to meet tight deadlines, which means you may be working under pressure.
A professional dress code and working environment will be the norm.
Most of the time you will be office based or work for home, but you should expect to travel to visit project sites, attend project team meetings in person or virtually.
 
Qualifications
You can apply for this vacancy with a degree in any subject. However, a degree in business or project management will help but is not a pre-requisite. Your experience or knowledge will be more important than a business or project management degree.
 
Skills
You will need to have:
  • excellent organisation skills, to plan the use of people and resources to meet deadlines
  • strong interpersonal skills, to motivate and lead project teams
  • the ability to monitor and control budgets
  • good communication and negotiation skills, to manage expectations
  • the ability to use your initiative and make decisions under pressure
  • technical knowledge related to projects is required.
 
Work experience
Work experience in managing resources, costs and people will help you to get this job.
 
Training
Training is not provided. Except for the use of the software to help you monitor and coordinate projects. You will be expected to develop your own ways of work, proving that you follow the protocol and the expected codes of conduct.
 
If being in charge of schemes, resources and people motivates you, and you can work under pressure to tight deadlines, this vacancy may suit you. You will need to track work to be completed, set deadlines and delegate tasks to project team and other project coordinators, identifying any potential risks. Ultimately, you're responsible for completing the project work in line with the plan and will often report progress to the Vema Seamount Authority in his capacity as acting Prime Minister of Mount Vema, until a new Prime Minister is elected or appointed.
