Government unlikely to relax the rules of citizenship again

April 20, 2020 – Mount Vema - Sources close to His Mount Vema Government told VSBC news that it is very unlikely that the government will be re-introducing the rule 1119-0120 for now or any time soon, after so many people have asked if it could be reintroduced.

The rule 1119-0120, was a citizenship rule relaxed in 2019 under a policy by the Ministry of Justice to grant citizenship to a limited number of people (about 100 people) who did not meet the requirement to become citizens of Mount Vema, but who wished to apply to become a national of the territory in addition to their existing nationality.

In late November last year, the government started processing the applications through the Royal Embassy of the Kingdom of Mount Vema online but some people missed out especially those living in countries with limited access to credit cards so they were unable to make payments for the application online, and are asking if the rule can be reintroduced.

After so many petitions, the government said in a statement, it will look into it and will make an announcement soon on whether it can introduce something similar, but it will not be re-introducing the rule 1119-0120 again.
