Job Vacancy: Structural engineer for Mount Vema Boulevard North

December 16, 2020 – Handy Deed, is looking for a Structural Engineer to design the Mount Vema Boulevard North, the road that will divide the Port of Mount Vema and the five districts to be located north of the Mount Vema central park (Pashant, Bella Vista, Neverland, Roseland, and Northland) which will make the north side of the City of Mount Vema.
 
The successful candidate will work as a Contract Engineer and will design the road by applying the same principle used to build beam bridges, and it must designed to withstand stresses and pressures imposed through environmental conditions and human use. You will ensure that the road do not deflect, rotate, vibrate excessively, or collapse and that it remains stable and secure throughout its use.
 
You will also be responsible for choosing the appropriate materials, such as concrete and steel, to meet design specifications and you will be involved in inspecting the work and advising contractors.
 
Responsibilities
You will need to:
  • analyse configurations of the basic components of the structure
  • calculate the pressures, stresses, and strains that each component, such as a beam or lintel, will experience from other parts of the structure due to human use or environmental pressures such as weather or earthquakes
  • consider the strength of various materials, e.g. concrete, and steel, to see how their inclusion may necessitate a change of structural design
  • liaise with other designers, including architects, to agree on safe designs and their fit with the aesthetic concept of the construction
  • make drawings, specifications and computer models of the structure for building contractors
  • work with geotechnical engineers to investigate ground conditions and analyse results of soil sample
  • liaise with construction contractors to ensure that the road is structurally sound
  • apply expert knowledge of the forces that will act on the structure
  • use computers and computer-aided design (CAD) technology for simulation purposes.
 
Salary and Benefits
The salary is:
$80,000 US dollars per year for a Senior, with significant experience - at least 5-8 years'
$50,000 US dollars for an Experienced structural engineer
$30,000 US dollars for a graduate structural engineering trainee
Salaries are paid monthly in arrears.
The benefits include paid medical coverage, paid vacation, sick days, holidays, and a pension plan. Benefits are only applicable after you complete three months on the job.
 
Working hours
Your working hours will usually be 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, with some occasional evening and weekend work where necessary.
 
Requirements
If your application is accepted, you will be required to open a bank account with a Mount Vema bank, if you do not already have a Mount Vema bank account, and a Mount Vema work visa.
 
What to expect
  • The work will be office-based, but you will initially work from home with occasional visits to construction sites to see other professionals, or to measure progress of the building project.
  • When visiting the site, appropriate safety equipment will need to be worn.
