Port of Mount Vema legislation to come into operation next week

July 22, 2020 – Mount Vema – The Port of Mount Vema Act will come into operation next week according to VSBCnews sources. The legislation will make provision in relation to the establishment of a port within the Vema Seamount Territorial waters for the purposes of customs and excise. The Government first planned to introduce the legislation for a provisional port but it has since decided to build on the same site first allocated for the Port of Mount Vema project so the word ‘provisional’ was then abandoned and the legislation will now enter the statutory books as The Port of Mount Vema (Vema Seamount) Act 2020.
