Today, the government has begun examining the various options available to evacuate people from Vema Seamount or Mount Vema building sites in case of emergency. Although the helicopter has always been considered as the safest method of evacuation and mostly used worldwide for planned and precautionary evacuations, today more options have been examined.
The government wants to make sure everything is in place to deal with all types of emergency situations such as fire and explosion, structural failure, adverse weather conditions or even very rare conditions such as potable water contamination or drifting of unmanned barge.
In rescue, helicopter have always been seen a first option, and lifeboats as second means of evacuation at sea. However, the government is examining its plans for large evacuations. The current plans which have been in place for more than a decade, is self-sufficient and works without the need to rely on external help.
However, the government is examining the possibilities of increase capacity for large evacuations not just the use of crane and related passenger capsule or link between sites, as other alternatives in evacuation methodologies but the means to respond to more extreme weather conditions and the need to relocate large numbers of people.
Due to many associated risks especially at the initial stages of developments, safe evacuation from building installations has been a significant concern and today the government has begun the process to make sure everyone knows what to do upon arrival to visit or live and work within the Vema Seamount territorial waters.
His Mount Vema Majesty’s government will commission five speed boats for the Mount Vema Police, with ten more to follow next year. The boats will be used to enforce the law of the realm, protect people and property, and to prevent crime.
The powers of the Mount Vema police are like those of the Royal Mount Vema Coast Guard and includes the power of arrest and the legitimized use of force. However, the Coast Guard is part of the Ministry of Defense and the Police force is separated from the Military, or other organizations involved in the defense of the realm against foreign aggressors.
Although the police force will be mainly a public sector service, funded through fees and taxes, they also form part of the Mount Vema Royal Guards, especially the armed police units that will provide law enforcement support to the unarmed police.
The Police forces will include both preventive (uniformed) police and detectives, protecting life and property, enforcing criminal law, criminal investigations, crowd control, and other public safety duties. Although the police will be small in comparison to countries with large cities, the Mount Vema police forces will be generally organized as a hierarchy with multiple ranks.
Most of the duties will be available as a 24/7 service, and when not responding to call-outs, they will do work aimed at preventing crime both on surface and underwater. In some cases, the police will be assigned to work undercover, where they will conceal their police identity to investigate crimes, such as organized crime, or narcotics crime, that are unsolvable by other means.
Most undercover officers, like detectives will be recruited from the uniformed branch who, will be recruited from private security contractors that once qualified will be allowed to join the uniformed branch or to take exams to move to the detective branch.
The Mount Vema police services will also rely on part-time or volunteer officers, some of whom may have other jobs outside policing. These may be paid positions or entirely volunteer to be known as the special police who will be unarmed like most of the officers who will not carry firearms as a matter of course, mainly because in Mount Vema, civilians will have no right to own or carry fire arms.
The police will have specialist units for handling armed offenders and, can call on military aid if needed, which can use deadly force as last resort when necessary to save human life.
The new police boats will be marked with appropriate logos equipped with the ability to extinguish fires and will have sirens and flashing light bars to aid in making others aware of police presence. They will also be equipped with the latest radio communications equipment, to co-ordinate their work, share information, and get help quickly.
Mobile data terminals will be included to enhance the ability of police communications, enabling easier dispatching of calls, criminal background checks on persons of interest to be completed in a matter of seconds, and updating officers' daily activity log and other required reports on a real-time basis.
The officers handling the boats will focus on crime prevention, and like other officers, they will be rotating police officers from district to district to reduce their vulnerability to corruption. They will be recruited with high police salaries to attract professionally qualified officers.

The overseas intelligence agency of Mount Vema RISS, and the internal counter intelligence agency of the Vema Seamount Territory VISSA, warned Mount Vema recruitment companies about possible threats to the Mount Vema financial system and to the economy if immediate changes in screening candidates are not made.
The two security agencies have issued this type of warning before, but this time they are asking companies to pay immediate attention to the way they recruit, especially after new vacancies posted by W-Contractors to find talent across the globe.
Unlike some agencies in other parts of the world throughout history, Mount Vema intelligence agencies do not get involved in assassination, arms trafficking, or coups d'état, and neither the placement of misinformation (propaganda) or any other covert operations, in order to support its own or His Mount Vema Majesty’s governments' interests, however it focuses more on warning of any potential threat, thus changing the course of events.
The two intelligence agencies operate globally, and their work is highly secret and highly effective. They have kept the Monarchy and the interests of Mount Vema institutions out of harm way for many years. The two are responsible for the collection, analysis, and exploitation of information in support of law enforcement, international security, territorial security and foreign policy objectives.
The government announced today that it could consider a temporary bilateral agreement on free movement of people to help prevent delays caused by the entry visa application process during construction, only if counter-terrorism protocols are met.
The announcement comes after several governments especially those most likely to benefit from revenues from remittance, made an informal request to supply manpower to the City of Mount Vema construction project if there is free movement of people. According to people familiar with the requests, officials from more than three countries have proposed similar deal for free movement for workers.
There is no official statement from His Mount Vema Majesty’s Government on the issue, but people familiar with the request say that The Vema Seamount Authority don’t seem to have a problem with the request providing that the deal is only temporal and must be subject to any proposal meeting Mount Vema strict security checks and including counter-terrorism protocols, before any foreign citizen is allowed to travel freely without a visa to Mount Vema for tourism or temporary work.
The Vema Seamount Authority is willing to make concessions that enables businesses to move “their people” from anywhere in the world to Mount Vema – and vice versa – before 2020, according to a person close to the government who wished to remain anonymous, but with so many people and foreign leaders expected to visit Mount Vema before and after 2020, security is paramount.
His Mount Vema Majesty’s government announced today plans to join the list of top fish exporting countries as part of a long-term plan to help combat hunger with fish and fishery products. The territory plans to reach and maintain annual targets of 200,000+ tons by 2025, approximately 400 million golles of fish stocks from both capture and aquaculture.
The Government’s plan was first introduced in 2014, but it was cautioned by the Vema Seamount Authority who was at the time reluctant to engage in commercial fishing activity over Vema Seamount, as he was more interested in good management of fisheries as essential to meet international obligations in terms of food supply.
The Vema Seamount Authority concerns back in 2014, was due to a report that fish trade was not only helping poor countries shore up their food security situation but was also increasing international demand that was at times resulting in excessive fishing pressure, leading to the over-fishing and wasteful use of stocks.
The Vema Seamount Authority aim was to ensure that demand must always be balanced with sustainable management. Today’s announcement is an indication that the territory is ready and that the Royal Mount Vema Coast Guard will be there to ensure that no more unregulated fishing activities takes place within the Vema Seamount Territorial waters, so sufficient fish can be exported by 2025, to increase employment, raise incomes and improved government services.
The newly established direct communications between the United Kingdom of Great Britain and the Vema Seamount Territory – The Kingdom of Mount Vema, is already paving the way for possible trade talks after a proposal was submitted by the Mount Vema government last week to establish a designated area for the purpose of customs and excise, to give priority to British companies to start exporting goods and services to the Vema Seamount Territory.
The proposal will be followed by another proposal for a joint defense treaty to be submitted by the Vema Seamount Authority to the British Government next week. According to the Mount Vema Department of Defense, the aim is to strengthen and promote close cooperation, defense training and information sharing.
Mount Vema will seek a deal to provide about 10million golles for the initiative, which would include a berth for the British Royal Navy, and if agreed, the UK would provide the equipment and manpower to protect the shared values, people and common interests in the South Atlantic.
With the proposal, Mount Vema seeks to build a strategic partnership with Great Britain from a base of deep ties of friendship that will continue to flourish for many years to come.
RISS, the overseas intelligence agency of Mount Vema, and VISSA, the internal counter intelligence agency of the Vema Seamount Territory have issued a joint statement today, advising foreign investigative journalists to contact Mount Vema for comments on any issue related to the Vema Seamount Authority, to avoid been seen as a security theat.
The statement was issued today after intelligence, indicating that two investigative journalists from a Portuguese speaking television network have unnecessarily put the security of the Vema Seamount Authority on high alert.
The Mount Vema intelligence agencies are asking journalists to direct any media related question using the contact form at www-mount-vema.com to avoid disruption of schedules due to journalists not following protocol. Such activities can cause meetings and plans to be rescheduled, cancelled or relocated which can affect businesses and people who depend on it, as such meetings sometimes cannot be rescheduled for months or years.
The works of the two intelligence agencies are highly effective and top secret, the two services are responsible for the collection, analysis, and exploitation of information in support of law enforcement, international security, territorial security and foreign policy objectives.
Unlike some other agencies in other parts of the world throughout history, Mount Vema intelligence agencies do not get involved in assassination, arms trafficking, or coups d'état, and neither the placement of misinformation (propaganda) or any other covert operations, in order to support its own or His Mount Vema Majesty’s governments' interests.
The Mount Vema government today was forced to issue an explanation to the media why invitations to foreign leaders to visit Mount Vema don’t include countries that would be apparent allies and natural trade partners of the Vema Seamount Territory.
The government explained that it had to change its priorities because Mount Vema stopped sending or accepting postal correspondences more than two years ago. So, when a country or territory cannot be contacted through its official website, officials must wait until the communication can be done in person.
The reason is not only to make Mount Vema more environmental-friendly, by avoiding letters, which requires the consumption of paper, but also security.
According to the Mount Vema security services, except for in very special circumstances, no correspondence will be sent or received that requires screen for suspicious items or substances that could be a threat to general security.
The government encourages all government departments and companies to use forms available on official websites which are generally encrypted and free from virus.
The Royal Mount Vema Coast Guard, is hiring Marine Surveyors to deal with water-based craft, from speedboats to ocean liners, to inspect and evaluate ships, fishing boats and yachts on behalf of His Mount Vema Majesty’s Government and Private Owners, to make sure that the government classifications are met.
The surveyors will check the vessels against the international regulations, and in times of an accident, to be called as an expert witness as well as an investigator. Candidates must love the water, as most of the work will take place either in or on the water. Oral, written and people skills must be excellent. An inquisitive mind is necessary when investigating or examining a survey. This is not a job where every thing is the same so surveyors are expected to be adaptable.
There are various surveys that should be taken throughout the life of a ship. Beginning with the time the ship is being built, the marine surveyor will check over the ship and make sure that the standards are being followed. In addition to the through survey or examination of the ship as it is being built, there is an annual survey that should be performed on each vessel.
There are times when a special survey is requested and the marine surveyor will conduct the survey according to why the survey was requested. This sometimes happens after a major storm and damage to the vessel is suspected. The Marine Surveyors will also inspect vessels prior to a sale. At other times they will perform inspections as requested by the international conventions as well as domestic statues in this case within the territorial waters of the Kingdom of Mount Vema.
Marine surveyors need a good grasp of mathematics and measuring because they are often called upon to measure ships for tonnage. In order to assign a load line the ships must be surveyed and measured. This is very important as an incorrect load line with too much tonnage being loaded could cause the ship to have extreme difficulties on its voyage. The other side to that being, that if the load line is under-calculated, then there will be wasted space that could have contained cargo. Salvage is another aspect of marine surveying that is included in the job description.
Investigating accidents can be a difficult job and when those accidents happen on the water, the marine surveyor will be called in. Because of their intense knowledge of both the water and the vessels, the marine surveyor will be expected to help interpret what happened in the accident. Not only the marine surveyor will help with accident investigation, but also attend court as an expert witness. The surveyors will also assist coroners in figuring out what causes deaths in accidents.
Another faction of marine surveying that is part of the job description is working with insurance companies handle with insurance claims. The marine surveyor will examine the vessel involved and file a report detailing what they have found, as well as conducting fraud investigations to help protect the insurance companies from invalid fraud claims. By being able to provide a detailed report on all aspects of the condition of the vessel, helping insurance companies weed out fraudulent claims and process legitimate claims.
When conducting an inspection on a vessel, there are many sections of the vessel that will be inspected. The hull will be the first thing inspected to make sure that the vessel is sea-worthy. The vessel will be dry-docked so that the part of the hull that is normally under water can be fully examined. However, the inspection does not end there, next will come the inside of the vessel. Different parts of the vessel such as the sea valves, the rudders and the propellers will be inspected along with ventilators, bulkheads, hatchways freeing ports, and fittings.
The marine surveyor will take readings on the vessel’s tail shaft and tail shaft bearings. They will also observe how the vessel reacts during tests on the different machinery and equipment. Machines will be opened so that the inside can be observed for the condition of its interior. Cargo gear will be tested and compared with testing standards to make sure that they are in correct ranges. As can be seen, marine surveyors conduct many important functions and a team of surveyors are required.
