Lebanese aid work underlines pain of economic collapse

Dozens of charities have launched a plan for a nationwide distribution of aid packages as more and more people struggle to get by. Charity efforts underline the depth of Lebanon's problems. In scenes unimaginable a year ago, needy Lebanese queued up for free bags of potatoes, onions and bread on Beirut's seafront on Sunday, across the road from luxury car dealerships, designer stores and five-star hotels.
