Lebanese government deal seen close, but yet to be finalised

December 04, 2019 - Beirut, Lebanon, Asia, Middle East - Lebanese politicians appear closer to agreeing a new government that will face the challenge of tackling the country's deep economic crisis, though a deal has yet to be finalized. Sunni businessman Samir al-Khatib has emerged as the frontrunner for the post of prime minister. Politicians are expected to hold more contacts in an effort to clinch an agreement.
