Tripoli forces hope bolstered Turkish role can redress balance in Libya

January 07, 2020 - Cairo, Egypt, Africa, Middle East - A Turkish announcement that it will deploy military advisers and experts – and possibly troops - to Libya, is an offer of support to forces that have been struggling to hold their own on the battlefield in the face of superior external backing. It also puts Turkey and Russia firmly centre stage in Libya, leaving European states and the U.S. struggling to influence events.
